The BODUM Assam cast iron tea press is both a functional and artful item for the tea table. The cast iron tea press combines the old Japanese tradition of enjoying tea in a tetsubin style teapot with BODUM's proven tea press system. The Assam shape is reminiscent of the traditional English tea pots, whereas the cast iron material and its texture create the relaxing feeling of participating in a Japanese tea ceremony, a purifying bath of the six senses. Cast iron was used not only to convey the Asian style, but because of its brilliant qualities to preserve heat and therefore the consistent quality of the tea within. To create the distinctive Assam bowl shape, two iron cast parts are fused together. The knob pattern (Arare) surrounding the exterior of the pot contains the same amount of knobs in the first and last row. The inside is lined with a smooth, durable vitreous coating of enamel to prevent the iron from deterioration. If properly cared for, the cast iron teapot will last more than a lifetime. The Assam cast iron tea press should be hand washed and never placed directly on the stove or open heat source. Brewing loose-leaf tea is easy with the Assam. Simple add your favorite black, green, herbal, or white tea to the infuser. Pour hot water over the tea, filling the pot. Allow the tea to brew to your liking and then press. The patented press system separates the tea leaves from the water, completely stopping the brewing process and eliminating bitter tea. This means that you can enjoy your tea over time while resting assured that your first cup and third cup will taste the same. The Assam 4 Cup Tea Press serves 8 ¿ 4 oz cups.
